To Hamda…

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD Sambusa, goat meat and yogurt, mangoes.

HOME SOUNDS LIKE Someone asking if I’ve eaten yet.
MAKES ME SMILE When my mother tells my father about her day and my father tells her about his, they look so at ease. Finding comfort and love in the mundane.

Home is Where Your Nose is

Most days I can still smell your scent
on my body,
Clouds of frankincense in my hair,
Clothes soaked in Rosewater,
Fingers star speckled
with cumin
and chili
and curry dust.

I wonder,
When does one lose
The smell of home?
