The day you thought anything was possible

My dad returned home that morning.
Later
out in the backyard
I made
a town of mud
packed with small hands
to the rhythm of
Mom’s soft humming
through the kitchen window.
My older brother
a superhero
whizzed by,
a flash of red tablecloth.
