POEM OF THE DAY
December 24
Oscar calls it the squirrel grocery store
leaving horse chestnuts at the bottom of the biggest tree you can find
sandpaper wind scrapes your cheeks, but
you didn’t want your coat.
2 years later
Sunlight drips glacial,
sharp.
No coat, you drop off a chestnut
when your friends aren’t looking
