You Can Never Go Home (But You Can Always Be Home)

Home isn’t a place.
Housing developments sprout in fields that once grew corn
and hosted games of capture the flag.
Home isn’t a person.
Even familiar names and faces
age, change, become strangers.
Home is life.
You cannot return to something that doesn’t exist
unless you accept it never did.
