To Poet Sarah Baker

POETIC INSPIRATION The riddles and runes in The Hobbit
HOME SMELLS LIKE A Boston Terrier
ON MY FRIDGE Glow-in-the-dark stars

Homing

Home is spun, a sticky
body bound—made
more maker, less stead,
more land. I want
to be base-
less so I’m always
in the stretch
of free, sweet leaving.
I run away;
how a pigeon finds
her page—can’t be
sick if I’m grown
from a home with range.
