I have held many stories over the years

Some balanced carefully between fingertips
The challenge is to catch details that
connect the pieces
before they dissolve in the rain
like my bridges were merely chalk drawings
on a Seattle sidewalk

I hold these jumbled sentences
in cupped hands
but words are like water
over time they slip through
