Conversations with our Mothers

The truth breaks over us in waves
sea spray sweeps away old judgments like sand

The beach beneath us swells
                                               then leaves
a vacancy where certainty used to be

         Sunset.

the tide draws out
Salt stays, unspoken, on our lips
