POET OF THE WEEK
Mario Paduano
Week of September 4
The land and the sea wondered
who surrounded whom?
In the end they decided
it didn’t matter.

FIRST POEM In my teenage years—something about being gay in Tacoma, growing up in a divorced household and not quite understanding
who I was. Typical teen angst.
FAVORITE LOCAL WATER The Duwamish, for the abuse it’s suffered and how it continues to live and flow and survive.
TAP WATER USE Tap water sustains our pets. With my cat at my feet and my dog sleeping beside me, these small joys wouldn’t be possible without that tap.
