TWO WOMEN ON A BLANKET AT ALKI BEACH

One throws her head back
and laughs.

Waves of emotion rise in me,
the same whenever I see friends
get on like this.

You see, I recently moved
to the city and loneliness
is starting to creep in on me.

They hug.

Everything flows from the arms
of everything else.
