WEATHERING THE STORM

Waves roared as she watched
clouds roll above foaming surf
flashes lighting where water meets sky

She breathed petrichor, allowed
winds to taunt her as rain
pounded in premonition toward land

In the final drizzle she walked
cool sands from which all
evidence had been erased by waters
