Tideless

the tide’s fingers creep
along the spine of beach
and you
stuck between vertebrae
with the invertebrates
where kids in bare feet
dripping sunscreen
poke stranded forms
and drop the stick
to the sand
and you are glad
for your drifting self
that doesn’t obey
the tug of the moon
